The Tombstone fans didn't appreciate the big day Craig Biggio had. He stroked a base-hit in the 1st inning, clubbed a three-run home run (his 1st of the season) in the 7th inning and stroked a single in the 9th inning. Dyersville banged out 10 on the afternoon. Schmidt(1-1) went the distance for the shutout. The loss was charged to Derek Lowe(1-1). He allowed 7 hits and 1 walk in 6 and 2/3 innings. 'Schmidt gave us exactly what we needed tonight,' Jim Aldrich said. 'When he threw the fastball he threw it for strikes. They were really fooled by his change. Most of the time he had them chasing it.'
